Investing in Clean Water: PFAS Treatment Facility Coming to Well #4

Perkasie Regional Authority (PRA) is committed to ensuring the highest standards of water quality for our customers, and we’re excited to announce the next step in that commitment—a new PFAS treatment facility at Well #4.

Project Overview
Beginning in mid-May 2025, construction will commence on a Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment facility designed to remove PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from the water supply. This facility marks a significant investment in public health and water quality, with an anticipated substantial completion by mid-July 2025.

Why This Project Matters
PFAS are synthetic chemicals that have been found in water sources across the country, and while regulations around PFAS continue to evolve, PRA is taking proactive measures to protect our community now. GAC filtration is a proven, effective technology for reducing PFAS levels and delivering safer drinking water.

Project Cost and Funding
The total cost of this project is $3.8 million, with $3.17 million generously funded through a PENNVEST Grant. The remaining costs are being managed responsibly to minimize customer impact. We’re proud that this critical investment in our water system is being accomplished with substantial outside support.

Project Partners
The project will be constructed by DOLI Construction Corporation, a firm with a strong track record in infrastructure projects like this one. They were selected through a competitive process to ensure high-quality work and efficient delivery.

Our Ongoing Commitment
At PRA, we provide both water and sewer services, and we are constantly working to maintain and upgrade our infrastructure. Projects like this one reflect our long-term dedication to ensuring safe, reliable service and protecting our natural resources.

We’ll keep you informed as work progresses and want to thank you in advance for your patience during construction. Our goal is always to provide excellent service with minimal disruption—and this investment is one more way we’re delivering value to our customers every day.
